Because more than just patient comfort should be considered when prescribing a drug regimen for pain management, a comprehensive drug testing program is an important asset in any practice.
MINIMIZING RISK, MAXIMIZING PATIENT CARE
Considering the risks of severe complications, along with death and liability issues associated with drug interaction, it is important to ensure patients are using their prescribed medications in an appropriate manner. Proper testing is critical to providing the best patient care and, ultimately, for ensuring a successful practice. With levels above the therapeutic range, patients are at risk for prolonged illness or even death. Drugs with extended half-life, for example, can stay in patients' systems for significant periods of time and build up to toxic levels. Of course, there are a number of potential complications for non-compliant patients who supplement their therapeutic regimen with other substances, whether prescribed or not.

STOP THE GUESSING GAME WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR PATIENTS MEDICATION AND TREATMENT.
There are multiple road blocks when prescribing medications to a patient.
- The genetic variations in drug metabolizing enzymes that affect a high number of commonly prescribed drugs.
- The unknown outcome of a patient who is on multiple medications and has changes to his/her drug metabolizing capacity.
- The increased risk of adverse drug events (ADEs).
LifeHope Labs uses a simple buccal swab sample to collect and test the DNA that is used to determine a patient's response to specific medications from his/her genetic profile. Genetic variations associated with a patient will determine a drug’s effectiveness or toxicity. LifeHope Labs screens 50 well-established genetic markers in a single test that provides clinically relevant data. This data can then be used to determine drug combinations that are ideal for each individual’s specific genetic makeup. This allows the physician to minimize adverse reactions, identify genetic variations responsible for abnormal drug metabolism and provide a more effective drug regimen. Pharmacogenetics (PGx) can be used in specialties such as cardiology, pain management, oncology, mental health and more.
Our advanced genetic reporting gives you a detailed panel of results that include a current medication assessment, drug suggestions, and alerts for normal function, intermediate risk and do not use.
While PGx has been highly studied in the past, in recent years it has been highly utilized to target patient specific information. Clinical trials have proven that benefits from these tests also prevent ADE’s, increase drug effectiveness, and lower costs associated with patient care.
